Each year, the Galatoire Foundation Christmas and Mardi Gras auctions assist in achieving the goals of local non-profits. Started in 2006, the Christmas and Mardi Gras auctions have raised more than $1 million dollars for local charities.

            The two auctions allow customers the opportunity to reserve a table on the restaurant’s famed first floor the Fridays before Christmas and Mardi Gras, which are two of the busiest days for Galatoire’s. This year’s Christmas Auction will be on December 1, and the Mardi Gras Auction will be held on January 26.

            Since 1905, Galatoire’s has maintained a strict “no reservation” policy, so the first floor has always been traditionally first come, first serve, making it very sought after during the busy holidays. 

This year, proceeds from the two auctions will benefit the Galatoire Foundation, which has been dedicated to giving back to the New Orleans community and region that has patronized Galatoire’s for generations; Lighthouse Louisiana, an organization dedicated to serving the blind and visually impaired community; and Liberty’s Kitchen, whose mission is to transform the lives of New Orleans youth by providing a path to self-sufficiency through food service-based training, leadership and work-readiness programs.
